Harris Done: Director of Photography

Born in Hollywood, and raised in Anaheim, California Harris’ early interest in art and photography eventually led him to the USC School of Cinema/Television.   While there he shot the award winning film, Hotel November and directed the documentary about competitive fencing, Throwing Steel.

After graduating in 1987 he began working in feature films as an assistant cameraman, working for noted directors of photography, John Alonzo, ASC and Julio Macat.  While learning from seasoned professionals on large studio features, Harris was also working as a D.P. himself, shooting over a dozen low budget features and nearly a hundred music videos.

He moved up the ranks on major studio pictures,  most notably as the Second Unit D.P. on Columbia Pictures’, The Cable Guy, 20th Century Fox’s The Truth About Cats and Dogs and Krippendorf's Tribe for Touchstone.

Done teamed up with USC classmate James Moll on the 1999 Oscar Award winning Feature Documentary The Last Days, for executive producer Steven Spielberg.  They collaborated again on the Hi-Def 24p documentaries Price for Peace, and Epilogue of the Pacific for executive produced by Steven Spielberg.  They recently completed, Massacre at Mystic and the soon to be released Inheritance.   Other notable documentary credits include Paramount Classic’s Trekkies.

Harris’ narrative features include Phoenix Pictures’ Ocean Tribe and the recently released Honeymoon with Mom.

Harris has just produced and directed his first feature documentary, Always Faithful about the Marine war dogs of WWII.
