

EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
Mr. Chokan Laumulin was born in 1969. He has 17 years of professional experience in media, transportation, and consumer goods industries. In early years of his career, in 1992-94, he run his start up company, worked as a Head of Representative Office of beverages multinational company Seagram (1995). After successful implementation of marketing programme of Seagram in Central Asian region, Chokan was invited to be a vice-president of one of the top private companies in Kazakhstan, Accept Corporation, to head their beverages/distillery business. In this role, from 1996 to 1998, he managed the turnaround of one of the largest distilleries in country, Zhambyl spirits plant, launched a series of new products, which were awarded a number of prestigious international industry awards. Later, in 1998, he set up another private company, Informika Ltd, that became a holding company for a number of media assets. As a part of a corporate turnaround team, he was a Chairman of the Board and CEO of KTK, first independent and most popular then TV channel in the country, member of the Board of Caravan, the largest and most powerful independent media holding in the country (which includes KTK TV channel, Caravan weekly and daily newspapers, and various other assets). In May 1999, he set a Continent magazine, the most prominent business and political magazine in the Central Asian region (www.kontinent.kz), where he held a position of Editor-in-Chief. Continent magazine has published a number of interviews and articles on various issues related to Sino-Kazakh political and economic relationships, including a few interviews with the Ambassadors of People’s Republic of China to Kazakhstan.
Having completed his studies at LSE, in 2002, Chokan in co-operation with Iskender Syrgabekov started another private company, Central Logistics Ltd, which soon became one of the fasted growing and successful customs broker and international logistics company. Among the blue chip customers of Central Logistics are TengizChevroil (a Kazak subsidiary of Chevron Texaco corporation, the biggest oil producer in Kazakhstan), Bechtel, and etc. From 2004 to 2008, he is a general producer of RAUAN media group, a new media holding set up by a national oil company, KazMunaiGas. One of the major assets of RUAN media group is a new TV channel Astana, that commenced broadcasting in the second half of 2004, and of which Mr. Laumulin was CEO.
Since 2006 Syrgabekov, Laumulin and Bergaliev are the executive producers of Murder by Proxyl documentary film, which is produced in co-operation with Allentown Production, Hollywood and directed by Emil Chiaberi.
Mr. Laumulin holds an MSc degree from the London School of Economics (2001) and BSc degree (distinction) in journalism from the Kazak State National University (1996).
